M-preg baffles me. It's just... confusing? Like, staring at the story for five minutes because I just don't get why someone would want to make a guy pregnant. I'll read the story, but it usually ends up being out of that fascination you get when something is just really weird.

Agreed. I just don't get why they do this. Like, if you need a child for a plot device, have them adopt. I just get really creeped out and uncomfortable and try to skim over any parts of the story that actually refer to them being pregnant and just imagine they adopted or something

Thank you, thank you, thank you for making this thread, because I now have a WONDERFUL idea for my story "To the Grave," sequel to "Brae Odair." (Teehee, I sound like an author on a talkshow. "Buy my book "Blah blah blah blah" sequel to "Yadda yadda who cares" prequel to "Can't think of a good book title.") Brae is going to officially and forever be...BISEXUAL!
Just don't spread that around FFN; my friend doesn't go on Starvation and she'll be so surprised! She loves bi couples.

Slash, I think is a great story to read. As long as it's writing that is comprehensible and neat, it makes sense.
There really is no point to have a story with no real plot. People will NOT just walk across a room and start initiating something.
I don't see why the circumstances change between slash and het fics. Most regular romance fics I've read don't include a harsh beginning, and they actually have the angst that makes the stories better.
Mpreg fics are odd. There really isn't a better way to put it. No matter how many times Snape brews that potion, it is not possible, and frankly, silly.
Another problem I have is with homophobic flamers that review just to hate. If you don't like the material involved, why didn't you read the 'Slash' warning in the description?
The plot is there, and, overall, I enjoy slash writing. But, when talking about this, it raises the question, 'Is homosexuality right?'. But that's for another topic.
P.S. I'm the first male person to post here. Creepy.

At least if there's a potion there's a reason in the plot for the M-preg to happen...all of the stories I've read are just like "oh, yeah, and Remus got pregnant" To be fair I've read, like, two, because they really creep me out though And I agree with you about flamers. On another forum I'm on, we discussed how it seems odd to warn for slash - it's not like it's going to be really upsetting to someone like violence/character death or a trigger might - but if you don't people get all mad at you.

I read a fiction where it was 'Oh, you're pregnant? I thought you gained 20 pounds!' That was the last mpreg fic I'll ever read. It's as if quality was thrown out the window.
FFnet should have a category for slash. Just because people like me enjoy it so much. And flamers will steer clear of it.

Flamers who actually search for slash drive me crazy. If you don't like it, don't look it up! It's that simple!
Honestly, slash makes me...uncomfortable, at least when whole plotlines revolve around it. When it's part of a story, it's fine, but when it is the story, I get uncomfortable. Does that makes sense?

Yeah, I know what you mean. When the only actual plot is the development and flourishing relationship. It doesn't necessarily make me uncomfortable, per se, but I'd prefer one with an actual plot that isn't completely romantic. Sometimes it's like reading Twilight all over again.

Well, it just makes me uncomfortable when it's written badly. But when it's written well, I don't mind it at all. Like on Glee. My friends have to remind me that Kurt is gay. So written well, I actually do like it, but written badly, I...I can't read it.

I, personally, am a huge fan of romance/angst slash fics, but then again I don't mind a romantic relationship developing being the center point of any story as long as it's done well. I think slash romantic angst stories are even better because you have so many more dilemnas to overcome - do they accept how they feel or try to deny it, will their friends/family/the world at large accept them...*sigh* The best kind of story, in my opinion.

That is a great story... But unfortunately, most people don't write slash like that. They write it like this: "Peeta stormed into Gale's room as he slept and slipped into bed with him. Gale woke up, alarmed. Peeta whispered in his ear, 'I love you.' Gale fell back asleep, knowing it was all okay." Worst. Slash. Ever.

Ah, and that's where I draw the line as well.
It sometimes happens with regular stories like, 'The tribute from district 8 ran up where all the other 23 tributes were grouped and slit their throats.' I read a story like that. *pukes*

Necroposting an old thread.
For all you non-techno geeks, that means reviving a dead thread. You know, necromancy? Whatever.
Anyway, I'm thinking of making a 'Homosexuality' WAR thread. Although I'm pretty sure we all have the same opinion. :-|
