This thread will contain spoilers about City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare. If you don't want the book spoiled, don't read the thread.*spoiler warning*So I just finished reading CoFA and I want to hear what other people thought of it. I don't like the Mortal Instruments series now as much as I did when I first read it, but I was dissapointed with this book. I didn't really feel like there was a plot - when I finished reading it, I felt like all of the characters were still where they'd been at the beginning of the book. Also ( spoiler!) what the heck was up with the ending? It made me so mad! I was reading it at like 11 at night and I knew the ending would be creepy but I was hoping the very ending would be fluffy, but it was even creepier. Why would you leave Jace alone with Sebastian anyway? Can we say stupid? I think all of the characters need to talk to each other...like maybe if Jace had told Clary he was having dreams of killing her, or Simon had shared with someone that creepy people in gray tracksuits were attacking him, they could have dealt with Lilith better. *shrugs* Just a thought. Also, I was dissapointed Tessa (from Clockwork Angel) wasn't in the book at all. I really wanted her to be.

I'm rereading the book to double check it really was part of the series. I liked it, but was severely disapppointed in it. However, I did like that it mentioned Will (love him to pieces) but I disliked how Tessa was never brought up.
The ending. Ugh. I hated it. Terrible. And I agree, it seemed like there was no plot to it at all.

I loved Alec and Magnus in this book, especially how Alec is totally jealous of Will But I wanted info on Tessa and Jem too. Yeah. I hated the ending too. It was like, there was a plot, but by the end of the book everything was the same, so there might as well have been no plot.

I love Alec, he's always been a character I liked. In this book, he was quite amusing. Spoiler: For the ending, when Clary left Jace alone in the roof, I couldn't help but think stupid. :/ If I was here, I wouldn't have left him for anything. Also, the next Infernal Devices book comes out in December. And City of Lost Souls in May. ( I just learned the dates now)

I really liked how the author has improved the series with Alex. He's my favorite character. Don't tell anyone. But I agree, CoFA had no plot by the end. A little more creativity would've been nice. At least they're more books on the way

I have such a crush on Alec it's not even funny. D:
I was okay with CoFA, it was nothing new, to be honest. I was hoping for more Simon-POV, or some more Alec/Magnus.

I can't wait for the next two; maybe we will see more Alex/Magnus. Hopefully.

I hope so too. I think that CoFA was more of an in-between book, so hopefully things will look up from here.

I love Alec. So much <3 <3 I missed them in CoFA. But there was the info on their trip, and when the came back they were so cute, so it kinda made up for it. But agreeing with the CoFA plot-less-ness. It annoyed me Is it bad that I really want Tessa to show up in City of Lost Souls and become bffs with Alec since she's already bffs with Magnus? /fangirl...

Alec is teh hawtness. I honestly don't care about any of the other characters, as long as Alec and Magnus are still fine. Nah, it's not bad. Just a bit dorky.

Oh, agreed. At this point Clary's stupidity has gotten to be a bit much, and Jace has crossed the line in angsty-ness...although I do want Isabelle and Maia to survive And Maia's boyfriend. Simon I'm not so picky about Are you calling me a dork? -le gasp- I think I'm a geek or a nerd at least

Clary is just... urgh. And Jace's whole emo thing so DID NOT WORK. I know that CClare needs some sexual tension, but really. I also hope that Maia survives, I'm not too picky about Iz. (Not that I have a problem with her or anything.)
OH YEAH I WENT THERE. XP

They were just so depressing at the end of the book...personally I think she should have stopped it at 3 books, because really Clary/Jace was so much more interesting and exciting when they thought they were related. (I was certain they weren't, and when Jocelyn finally admitted they weren't I screamed "Yes!" really loudly which was awkward b/c my parents were eating dinner ) OH YEAH? Well I think anyone who's a member of a fan site is at least a little bit dorky. WHAT NOW? (Let's not talk about how me being a mod of a fan site ups the dork-o-meter.)

Yeah, I think it would've been good to stop at three books. I found that the story was rounded up nicely and didn't really need any continuation. If CClare really wanted to continue the series, I think that she should've changed the POV (SIMON PLEASE) and keep the Clary/Jace to a minimum. This is not a fan site. IT IS A FANFIKSHUN SITE. (That is SO much dorkier. xD) That's just super-dweeby. xD

If she'd just taken out the weird part with the Fairy Queen (I know she had a fancier name but it's left my mind at the moment) then it would have been happily-ever-after. Well not quite, but I like my series to end nice and wrapped up. Instead it's dragging on, boringly, and there was nothing about the Seelie Queen(I remembered it! Win!)'s prophecy in CoFA.
I wouldn't want Simon POV though. He's so...normal.
Uh-oh. I better go change the college guidance questionaire I filled out today - I put down "administrate a fan site" as something I did in my free time. I thought it sounded more official than "fanfiction. lots of it."
