Tis the Holiday Season... what do you celebrate? How do you celebrate? ANy family traditions, like breaking out the ol' metal tree or are you stuck in the black friday rushes?

Usually we celebrate Christmas Eve and Christmas with my Dad's family, and then have my Mom's family over on Boxing Day. But since there's not going to be many people around this year, we're celebrating with my Dad's family on Christmas Eve and my Mom's family on Christmas... lol.
And I have to work on Christmas Eve, darn it. 3:15-10, oh yeah. I'm pretty mad, since we get 2 paid breaks if we work for 7 hours... :l (/complain)

Thats awful (to work on Christmas Eve, not splitting days with family) That sounds pretty cool though, I'm lucky, but don't ask me that on Christmas, that my mom and I are the big hosts for holidays so everyone comes to us. Right now I'm covering my house with lights and am so beating all the other houses in the neighborhood

... I'm Jewish, so it's Hanukah for me! *sings Hanukah songs* Yes, I love it. Working on Christmas Eve? That definitely sucks. I'm sorry to hear that. My dad's working then, too~ And you go, Kate, beating all the other houses! Ha, ha. That totally reminded me of the "All-England Best-Kept Suburban Lawn Competition", from HP... that wasn't real, but, you know, whatever. My family doesn't have too many "traditions"... I mean, the Hanukah ones (dreidel, latkes, songs, candles, etc.) , of course, but they're not "ours", so to speak... Ed: And, by the way, I love all of the holiday "decor" on the forum.

I have the best luck at that game, too. XD And merry Christmas to you.
(Grammar geek thing: I wonder if you're supposed to capitalize "merry" in merry Christmas for some reason... I've seen it done both ways...)
Ed: And, oh, I forgot about the holiday cookies in "traditions". Can't forget those!

We celebrate Yule. And Christmas. Usually I'm the one who decorates the tree, and gets the house all decorated, but I didn't get to this year.

I don't really play it, I'm not sure how, but I just like them I've usually done Merry christmas because in most cases its the start of a sentence and Christmas because its a proper noun but it could be "you have a merry Christmas" AJ, I think we talked about that last year it was interesting. And that's sad you didn't get to decorate

Who says 'merry Christmas'? I've always said 'happy Christmas'. Am I weird?
Kate, we did. I'm going home on Yule, so I won't get to really celebrate that this year either. And I'm not too upset I didn't decorate, it's more it's just weird that I didn't. I'll put up a tree in my house next year. ^^

I'd say no, but to be honest, you are weird with that. Everyone I know says merry Christmas, and its all over on commercial items, in fact I never see happy christmas.
Well at least you're looking to the future with it, I wouldn't have been happy about it

I channel the English too much. xD
Well, why not? If I only focus on what I didn't get to do, then I'll only be looking at the negative, and not thinking about the positive in the future.

ONe of my favorite things right now is the little peppermint sticks I get this time of the year sold in little bags, not candy canes, but peppermint sticks, theyre so wonderful, I always have a few on me from December until the end of February

Hannah, it is. Kate, it doesn't seem like it, but everyone I know from over the pond say 'happy Christmas'. I know those! If only I had money to get them. I like sticking one in my hot chocolate.
