I dunno if I'm supposed to make a whole new thread for introducing myself (feels a bit conceited to me), but I didn't want to invade someone else's thread, so...
here I am. Known on fanfiction.net as theplaidpen, on Tumblr as girlwiththeknives / hgrecipes, and in real life as Mariah, my primary objective here is to participate in the contests as a way to motivate myself to write. I also hope to make some new interweb acquaintances, since you all seem nice.
I speak lots of English, un peu Français, and even less Latin. I only have one fanfic published right now, but I've got... let's see... thirty-two fanfics in my "to write" folder. Not all of them are related to THG, but most of them are. In the past I've written for Warriors, Phantom of the Opera, and LOST, and recently I've thinking about doing something for Divergent. I adore Harry Potter (like most people in this corner of the internet), but I find the series too definitive and, well, perfect, to write fanfiction for it.
When it comes to THG, I love secondary characters and messed-up pairings! On my first read (over two years ago), I guess you could say I was "Team Gale," but now I don't really ship Katniss with either of the boys, although I respect both their characters in different ways. My favorites are Haymitch, Beetee, Delly, and all the Careers (especially Clove). My writing for the Hunger Games tends to be very dark, but rather than twisting pre-existing aspects of the canon in the style of aimmyarrowshigh (who actually I respect very much), I prefer to elaborate on the more mature themes presented in the series.
I'm working on an alternate-reality, six-part saga regarding the afterlife of the tributes from the 74th Games, entitled In Reliquum. I've also got a few much smaller projects currently in the works, including The Thirteen Men Cashmere Remembers Sleeping With, Capitol Girls, and The Fire Consumed Her, a onesided Prim/Gale story which will be my entry to September's One-Shot Games. I've got two different ideas for the CCCNCC, but I doubt I'll have time for that as well.
Anyway, I'm glad to be here! I'm currently searching for a beta-reader - anyone interested? ;D
