So, as many of us are starting up school again - or have done so already - the requisite school reading lists are no doubt coming out. What are your favorite novels you've read in school? Which are the ones you couldn't stand?
I really enjoyed The Great Gatsby, which we read last year, but I couldn't stand Catcher in the Rye, which was last summer's required summer reading.
What about you?

I've never had required reading lists before. But the ones from school I disliked reading in class were: The Hobbit,Tuesdays with Morrie, and Acceleration. My favourite was Macbeth.
Rowena, I can't say I've ever heard of either of those books.

Oh, I liked Macbeth. We read that in ninth grade, and Othello in tenth. I was going to be taking a Shakespeare English class this year, but then my schedule got all messed up Still, my mom let me keep the books, so I'm going to read them at some point. And we're reading Hamlet in the Philosophy & Lit class I'm going to be in now. I haven't read any of the other books I've heard of The Hobbit and Tuesdays with Morrie, though. Consider yourself lucky...I think they're standard reading in every high school in the U.S. Catcher in the Rye was one of the first books written in stream of conciousness, and I think people either love it or hate it. Personally, I hated it, but some of my friends loved it. *boggled*

I've never read catcher in the rye. The Great Gatsby is on my to read list because my lit teacher gave me her copy with her notes in it though. The Awakening by Kate Chopin is amazing if you really read into it. I loved it. But I also like Julius Caesar from Shakespeare. I like the Emperor.
