Em - It's coming out it Autumn?? *parties* You have to read the Kane Chronicles. They are awesome. Like, I was doubtful at first - I thought it was just going to be just PJO with Egyptian gods instead of Greek, but it's super different yet still awesome. I don't like Egyptian gods as much as Greek ones, but I would go so far as to say the Kane Chronicles are better than PJO. Riordan definitley expanded his horizons in them and it's really great. *shameless plug* Here's a review I wrote of The Red Pyramid for a fanzine a while back...fiefgoldenlake.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=10vol&action=display&thread=19014 *end shameless plug*Vivid - not trying to agrue here, but I couldn't stand the MC of Evernight. To be fair, I didn't finish the book, but I had started dog-earing examples of when she was a weakling and let a guy do something for her. Part of the reason I didn't finish the book, actually

...ah. See, you and I have rather different tastes then. See, I'm really quite bored of having all these strong main female characters who insist on doing everything themselves. It doesn't come off as empowering to me, but quite arrogant and... it tends to make the plot repeat itself. While I'm sure that it's good to have a female character who can get herself out of a mess without "running off to her prince", I enjoy the stories where she's timid. After all, it's part of her personality. -this sounds a bit war-ish. Haha, sorry about that.
I haven't picked up the PJO books, although I'm tempted since the movie was so appalling yet everyone seems to like the books so much. I keep being hounded to try the Mortal Instruments series though, and I guess I'm buying that next.

Yeah...I didn't find her timid, I found her flat-out weak. I don't mind a character who lets other people help her, but I didn't feel like it was one of her character traits, I felt like she was more helpless. Also the whole book felt like a Twilight knock-off to me. Perhaps I should make this it's own thread? I would put PJO above the Mortal Instruments, personally Don't let the movie throw you off - the movie sas SO SO SO[/i] bad (I actually *hated* it) and messed up the plot and everything horribly. The books are so much better.

Please do? I would but I've been unsure where it would go. Plus it's 1:33AM and I'm better at answering than I am at creating.
-which is the first book then? I only buy things in order. I'm an odd collector, it has to be in order for me, haha.

Mortal Instruments goes City of Bones, City of Ashes, City of Glass, City of Fallen Angels. (The prequel series first book, Clockwork Angel, was released in between CoG and CoFA but it doesn't have to be read in that order.) PJO first book is The Lightening Thief...then I'm not sure I can google it for you?

PJO is Lightning Thief, Sea of Monsters, Battle of the Labyrinth then the Last Olympian. Obsession I do have. And then you have the next series which is in the same universe and lightly follows the same characters but also has some new main characters. ;D
The movie for PJO was... terrible. The storyline was completely different, some of the most important characters weren't featured and Annabeth had BROWN hair!
-Shakes head-
Tut, tut, if the Mortal Instruments and THG are anything like it I will scream.

I was really pissed about that too, they said they were trying to appeal to an older audience and I was thinking, "well what about the audience that wants the movies to be like the books?"
I haven't heard of them before, what are they about?

They're making a City of Bones movie. I hate the actress playing Clary. I would have prefered Molly Quinn. Anyway, I'm currently reading nothing new, but rereading City of Fallen Angels.

I just read Peggy Orenstein's Cinderella Ate My Daughter, so now I'm looking up all the books she referenced to see if my library has them (in case you were wondering, so far it is sadly lacking )

At the moment I'm reading "Murder is Easy" (Agatha Christie.) It's quite hard to find English books that are not old classics here. I recently read "The Outisders" in English, and have been reviewing ARCs for another website. Which is fun, because I can talk about books that haven't actually come out yet. Haha.

AAAAHHHHH now I'm gonna sound all old-fashioned and stuck-up, but I am reading the unabridged version of Tom Sawyer. No, not for class (my school ended last month) but for fun. It's actually really good and really funny, but a little gross. I'm also re-reading A Series of Unfortunate Events all out of order I've already read the entire series, so now I'm re-reading it. Here is how I've re-read it so far: The Vile Village The Carnivorous Carnival The Reptile Room The Carnivorous Carnival The Carnivorous Carnvial (It's my favorite) THE END The Penultimate Peril
